Elizabeth Romhild, and her Odyssey

This October, Bangkok based artist Elizabeth Romhild launches Elizabeth Romhild’s Odyssey, a coffee table art book that takes readers into an odyssey through her life work.

In addition to nearly half a century of artistic practice, Elizabeth’s experiences living in various cultures, and especially Thailand, have conditioned her work to reflect a diverse mix of styles, moods, and influences, all showcased well in this recent book.

“This book is not only a retrospective — it’s an account of my life journey, communicated through the universal language of art,” says the Danish-Armenian artist. “Each piece embodies a story of happiness and sadness, of light and darkness, of resilience and fragility — the feelings that bind us all.”

A coffee-table book of art, Elizabeth Romhild’s Odyssey is as much about the details, those symbols, and the journey that has led her there.

[Fully known for her giant oil paintings, bronze sculptures and lifestyle designs, her work has been shown and collected around the world.

Although her work has been shaped by these experiences, it is Thailand and the Southeast Asian context she has drawn on most in her new sonorous direction. Almost all of the works in the book have been made here, in the past 37 years.

“My hope is that this book will inspire, challenge and resonate with art lovers, collectors and everyone else who longs for a deeper connection” through art, Romhild adds. “May it leave an indelible mark on your heart, as creating it has on mine.”

Elizabeth Romhild’s Odyssey (Limited Edition) is now out in Thailand at Asia Books and Kinokuniya stores.
