Social fury over walk yearn Bangkok collapse

Authorities are under fire after a concrete walkway, recently repaired a month ago on the Vibhavadi Rangsit road of Bangkok, on which some pedestrians were strolling on, suddenly collapsed. No one was injured.

The Drama Addict Facebook page posted video filmed by a surveillance camera on Sunday and shared it on Monday. It shows a man and woman strolling on the walkway in Payathai district. Then the concrete blocks fell, and they dropped into a hole.

The Department of Highways completed the walkway roughly a month ago, the page stated, though it had another post showing images of the collapse. The pedestrians were not injured, it said.

Many netizens commented under the posts of this is very dangerous.

“Can a pedestrian sue any government agencies for something like this?” a comment reads.

“It would be serious injuries if it was little kids or the elderly,” another one says.

Officials visited the walkway on Monday after it had been widely posted to social media, the Phayathai district office said on its Facebook page.

The hole was 2.5 metres wide, 3m long and 1m deep, according to the office.

The site was secured with fencing for repairs and to ensure safety for pedestrians, according to the office.
