Decluttering your home for a worthy cause
A long overdue spring cleaning; get rid of clutter stealing your precious space at work as well as at home and donate it to be sold at “Clutter Sale For Charity”, which will be held at the Grand Ballroom of Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel, Ratchadamri Road, on March 22 from 10am to 5pm.
Held by the NewsMakers, the 15th edition of the charity soiree will benefit the Genetic Cancer Research Centre at Chulalongkorn Hospital, under the supervision of the Thai Red Cross.
Long-time friends in media, public relations and creative fields, The NewsMakers came up with the concept of this fun boutique garage sale, which has raised millions for cancer research since it started in 2006.
It has since turned into an eagerly awaited shopping spectacle on the Thai social calendar featuring a range of vintage, gently worn and luxury branded men’s and ladies’ clothing and accessories, antiques, collectibles and beautiful home decor donated and sold by generous members of the public, VIPs, the local glitterati and the diplomatic community.
It is where that new-and-now-too-small-or-big pair of shoes is relegated to, rarely worn party dresses hung up and clothes still garbed with tags, even pricey designer handbags you’d like to swap for a new one; leather goods or sports gear clogging the house or overruns and seconds occupying desirable storage credits at home.
Interest in the one-day event has been phenomenal, with more than 70 tables drawing dozens of everthing from up-to-date on the hunt for treasures to loot vintage taste buds at a reasonable price. Get ready for a visit to the Designer Table (brand-name fashions and accessories), the Charity Corner, and a lucky draw for fantastic prizes for a donation of 50 baht.
Reservations are on a first come, first served basis. Each table of vendors carrying personal clutter is charged a donation fee of 2,500 baht while semi-business vendors pay a donation fee of 3,500 baht per table. In kind donations are also welcome.
