Min Aung Hlaing visits University of Information Technology and Yangon West  Technological University.

This morning, Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, SAC Joint Secretary General Ye Win Oo, SAC members, Yangon Region chief minister, senior military officers from Office of the Commander-in-Chief, Yangon Command commander and officials inspected University of Information Technology and Yangon West Technological University in Yangon Region.

Upon reaching the University of IT, the Department of Advanced Science and Technology under the Ministry of Science and Technology in Hlaing Township, the Senior General and party were welcomed by officials. At the meeting hall, Dr Saw Sanda Aye, Rector of the university, reported on the change of name of Yangon Computer Science university into University of IT, historical facts about the establishment of the university and its structural setup, academic activities conducted subject-wise and year-wise, selection of scholars for internal and external post-graduate courses, region/state-wise students of the university, technology and management system applied in teaching work, availability of occupational training and job opportunities for students, papers presented at the international Conference on the Published in Advanced Information Technologies (ICAIT), development of the university buildings.

Dr Myo Thein Kyaw, Union Minister for Science and Technology then discussed a supplementary report.

On the reports, the Senior General sought further details on the academic matters and hostel requirement and highlighted the need for systematic provision of hostel accommodation for students and housing quarters for teaching staff. The physical needs of the students must be arranged by the Senior General to enable them to do exercises.

During the tour, Senior General inspected application of digital library system, training-aid system, AI system, teaching aid system, practical session in the K-LAB and inclusion of teaching aid friendly classrooms and looked into the requirements.

Yangon West Technological University

At their arrival at Yangon West Technological University in Hlaingthaya Township, the Senior General and party were greeted by Rector Dr Kyi Soe and faculty members.

In the assembly hall of the main building, reports were presented on progress in the implementation of the instructions given by the Senior General during his inspection of the university in 2024, on the plans and efforts for the construction and road requirements of the university, on progress in the systematic demarcation of the border line of the university, and on the approval of a master plan for recreation center, beautifying the university surroundings and its appearance.

Commenting on the presentations, the Senior General stressed the need to make more preparations for this academic year. It is important to ensure that necessary facilities are provided to enable students to study in a conducive environment, he added. Thus, to build school buildings define a strategy while creating architecture retaining a relation of the architecture with the characteristics of an institution like a university.

The new regulations also advise on the systematic planting of trees and other greenery on the school grounds, as well as other processes.

Then, the Senior General looked into the construction progress of the main classroom building which is being built anew in three storeys, classrooms, an auditorium and a football field on the campus. He listened to the explanations given by the officials and gave them necessary instructions.

However, these create serious issues for easy water flow in Hlaingthaya Township, which should be cautiously addressed as soon as possible.

Then, the Senior General and party proceeded to Bayintnaung Park. In the park’s briefing hall, the chief minister of the region and the mayor updated the crowds.

They talked about the carrying out of the guidelines on the pepetration of urban development, construction and completion of public licking ground, multipurpose buildings, licking grounds, parking lots, playing fields and swimming pools at Hlaingthaya Bayintnaung Public Park, as mentioned in notes of the Head of State. In response to the presentations, the Senior General recalled inspecting the improvement of water flow and the installation of electricity poles during his visit to Hlaingthaya Township last year. He added that there are ongoing needs stemming from the efforts. Necessary improvements to the drainage system should be performed in a systematic way including the repair of drainage ditches and bridges to ensure that water flows through the entire area are performed according to the specifications. To sum up, the problem of water flow in Hlaingthaya must be spawned and us closely looked at.

To accomplish, an adequate inlet and drainage work should be done across the township. Explain that improving water flow and arranging water outlets is of utmost importance before the rainy season approaches. Afterwards, the Senior General visited and inspected the water flow improvement process in the township and gave necessary instructions based on the reports presented by the officials.
