Muay Thai and Moo Deng unite
Charoen Pokphand Foods Plc (CPF) has teamed up with world renowned Muay Thai fighter Buakaw Banchamek to launch a charity campaign, releasing ”Moo Deng” Muay Thai shorts.
As the “CPxMooDengxBuakaw” generous project of CPF together with the famous Muay Thai boxer, Buakaw Banchamek, who has exclusively given an interview with the Bangkok Post, will be used to solve this structural problem on October 23, 2023.
Combining two of Thailand’s favorite soft power avenues — Muay Thai and MooDeng, the well-loved pygmy hippo from the Khao Kheow Open Zoo — the project serves as a one-of-a-kind charity campaign, he said.
The project was launched on December 8, 2024 at Khao Kheow Open Zoo.
The Moo Deng Muay Thai shorts, which were created by CPF together with the Zoological Park Organization of Thailand to help raise funds for it’s recent “Moo Deng Helps Flood Victims and Cares for Animal Friends” project. during which an auction drew Thai and international supporters to make donations of over 1.39 million baht.
“I’m so honored to be a part of this project. Thus, it not only supports Muay Thai but also animals and individuals who are in trouble. All the money goes to charity without any deductions,” Buakaw said.
He emphasises that these campaigns show Muay Thai and Thai culture’s potential to positively influence the world.
Three sizes (S/M/L) for 899 baht, these special Moo Deng Muay Thai shorts are available to buy online or at the Khao Kheow Open Zoo. They were also sold through a live-streamed event to a great reception, like the limited-edition personalised shorts.
