Bangkok’s largest book fair is coming back next week
In a week, reading lovers will have a joy of reading a plethora of Thai and foreign books at the “53rd National Book Fair and 23rd Bangkok International Book Fair” taking place from March 27- April 7, 10am to 9pm daily, at Hall 5-8 of Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Ratchadaphisek Road.
Organized under this year’s theme, “Yor Yak (Giant), Read Big,” by the Publishers and Booksellers Association of Thailand (Pubat), this year’s edition is set to be the biggest yet, with a 20,000m² exhibition space to welcome a record of 400 participating publishers.
Their collection of two million books will satisfy readers from all walks of life at 1,200 booths. The fair will also consist of seven zones — “Fiction and Literature”, “Comics and Teen Books (Book Wonderland)”, “Children’s Books and Educational Books”, “General Books”, “Old Books”, “International Books” and “Non-Book Items and Board Games”.
The fair will also feature over 10 exhibitions and 100 creative activities. Among them are the “Visiting Giant’s House” exhibition where a list of reads under the theme “That Ordinary Book You Should Try Reading” is barely put out there; the “Thai Book Translation Grant” exhibition featuring a total of 15 books that have been put on the table to be taken into Translation into English for International markets; and “Book Power Exhibition” which will take over books alongside some recommended by Thailand’s leading figures in the soft power industry.
Other key highlights are “Little Read Storyverse: A Universe of Million Stories” exhibition featuring a curated collection of picture books and creative drawing stations and inspiring activities led by consisted readers; and the “Author’s Salon”, providing a platform for independent authors, writers and experts from various fields to share ideas and discuss writing experience with readers.
Coffee lovers will be able to enjoy premium coffee from global great cafes served at Pubat Café for the first time. A peaceful area for reading after hours of shopping and Thai massage service will also be available.
Through another initiative, Bangkok Rights Fair 2025, 115 publishers and rights agents from 14 countries and territories will come together. Set to be held at MR208 (2nd floor), on March 28 and 29, the event targets to enable more than 200 business matching sessions.
