Salby claims yellow jacket with win

Danish rider Alexander Salby from Li Ning Star team took his third stage fwins after trumfing the fifth stage of the Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Cup Tour of Thailand 2025 in Sa Kaeo on Friday.

Stage five of the tournament began at Watthana Nakhon and ended in Sa Kaeo with a distance of 136.20km.

With only one stage to go, Salby claimed the yellow jersey as the overall leader and the green jersey as the overall points leader.

Salby, who had won the second and third stages, finished in 2:48.50 hours.

Kazakh rider Yevgeniy Gidich finished second and Malaysian Saleh Mohd Harrif of the Terengganu Cycling team took third.

Hailing from the Roojai Insurance squad, Tanawat Saenta was ninth-placed for the stage, and so the best-placed Thai rider.

Salby was joined on the podium by his Swiss compatriot Simon Pellaud who fell to second in the general classification, and the winner of the fourth stage, Solution Tech Vini Fantini’s Lorenzo Quartucci.

Stage winner Saleh Mohd Harrif took home the Best Asean Rider award, while the purple jersey was still with Thai rider Sarawut Sirironnachai who finished the fifth stage, with a total time of 14:08.42 hours.

The 144.40km long sixth and final stage today is from Watthana Nakhon to Aranyaprathet.
